Frequently Asked Questions

If you're considering hiring an acting coach, or are already working with one, you probably have a lot of questions. We've compiled some of the most commonly asked questions about acting coaches and the coaching process to help you out.

This simple answer is no. Our job is to liaise with agents to cast actors for the production companies, directors and producers we work for, however we do not represent actors. We love working with actors. Check out Peter’s free resource: Australian Acting Agents Contact List and Free Guide to approaching Acting Agents.

We do! There are online courses available to do better in your auditions and upskill your work. We also have amazing in person acting classes in Brisbane.

We don’t recommend agents due to conflicts of interest.  If you are on the hunt for an agent consider my Career Supercharge Course to learn a great process to find the agent that is right for you.

Absolutely. We use these systems everyday to communicate with agents and with our clients. We use it for organising auditions. If you aren’t on there you most likely will be overlooked as it makes our job many times harder trying to present you.

It is also extremely important to be on any databases your agent has asked you to be on. They won’t be able to help if you don’t.

Actors are at a disadvantage if you do not have a presence on these sites or if your profile is not up-to-date and well populated with photos and your work. Think of these sites as your professional resume and please make sure you have a showreel or a few self-tapes on there so we can see you in action.

If you’re not a member you can sign up here: Showcast / Casting Networks.

Due to the high volume of submissions we receive we do not have the capacity to respond to unsuccessful auditions. We encourage you to sign up for our email list here. Also keep an eye on our Facebook and Instagram for future casting calls.

All of our audition briefs include specific instructions attached so please read them carefully. Different casting directors will have different instructions so please do take the time to read. And of course – read the script!

If you are looking to hone your self test technique please look into our current courses. I highly recommend Self-Tape Mastery and Self-Tape Your Showreel for actors looking to hone their self-test and audition skills.

Also check out Peter’s Self-Tape Setup Equipment Guide.

A ‘slate’, ‘ident’ ‘ID’ or ‘chat to camera’ is a short video at the end of your self-tape where you detail your: name, height, age (if under 18), location, show side profiles and a long shot.

There are many avenues to gaining experience – from drama school, workshops, courses, masterclasses etc. Please look into our beginner classes.

We don’t do go-sees, but we are more than happy to receive a link to your ShowCast or Casting Networks profile.

Join an extras agency. Check out my free resource for actors: Australian Acting Agents Contact List and Free Guide to approaching Acting Agents.

Also check out the lists on the MEAA website for a list of extras agents in each state.

Yes! Make sure your ShowCast and Casting Networks profiles are up-to-date.
